Inside B-Pump's First-Ever U.S. Climbing Clinic with Movement Gyms

In December of 2025, Movement Centennial hosted the first-ever U.S. clinic featuring Tokyo’s world-renowned B-Pump Ogikubo team. Led by Katsuaki “Katsu” Miyazawa and Tsukuru Hori, the four-day clinic introduced the Katsu Method of routesetting and athlete training to the American climbing community.

The clinic consisted of four days of setting, climbing, and direct coaching from Katsu and Tsukuru themselves. On Days 1 and 2, we invited eight total routesetters from Movement and other climbing gyms across the Front Range of Colorado to set boulders in collaboration with the B-Pump team. On Day 3, senior level athletes, including Natalia Grossman and Colin Duffy, worked their way through the boulders in a knockout style round—if you don't complete Level 1 in one minute or two attempts, you don't move on to the next level of that style. Finally, Day 4 concluded with junior athletes from Youth Nationals through National Cup level working their way through the boulder problems.
