Peak Performance Team: Movement's Adult Climbing Coaching Program Explained

Climbing Community | Climbing Tips | Climbing Techniques

Something we're all aware of in the climbing world is just how much of a community sport it is. Your best sessions are almost always the ones where you're surrounded by a crew that builds off each other's energy. We wanted to take that idea one step further. We took the exceptional coaching we already offer in our youth team programs and built something for the adults in our gyms, too. A community that keeps the energy of a great climbing group and infuses it with intentional coaching and real training structure. That's Peak Performance Team.

If you've ever shown up to the gym, climbed your usual routes, and left feeling a little.... meh.... Peak Performance Team might be exactly what your climbing progress needs.

So what is Peak Performance Team?

Peak Performance Team (PPT) is Movement's adult climbing team program built around the simple idea that small group coaching can turn into big results. Teams meet weekly with between 4 and 10 climbers, so your coach can focus on you and your individual goals, not just the group. Think of it less like a class and more like a team practice. It's a dedicated day every week to build real camaraderie and make genuine progress toward your goals.

What does a session look like?

Every practice is different. Coaches build each session around the needs of their team, so no two days look exactly the same. You'll typically start with a warm-up and an overview of the day's objectives, move into drills and training exercises like circuit work, movement drills, and training games, and wrap up with direct project coaching to help you send the specific climbs you've been working toward.

One week, you might be drilling footwork. Next, you might be tackling the mental side of a route that keeps shutting you down. The variety is intentional to help turn our athletes into the most well-rounded climbers they can be.

Who is it for?

Honestly? Everyone!

PPT meets you where you're at and helps you get to the next level. But don't just take our word for it. Here's what PPT athletes across the country are saying:

"I started PPT in February with zero Top or Lead climbing skills. Now I'm climbing 5.10's. My coach's guidance has been invaluable. Helps us by pointing out bad habits and correcting with better techniques in real time." — Boulder PPT Athlete

"PPT has elevated my climbing ability, my sheer enjoyment of the sport, and overall knowledge of what the heck I'm doing on the wall. I will do something on a route that my partners will ask 'Where the heck did that come from?' and I had practiced it at PPT two weeks before and it just shows up out of nowhere." — Englewood PPT Athlete

PPT is also just a genuinely great way to meet people and build community, especially if you train solo or work remotely:

"I've been climbing for about 5 years and joined the Recreational Peak Performance Team about 6 months ago. Having a coach and being more directed in what I focus on has helped me to improve much faster than I would on my own. It's also a really great way to socialize with other climbers, especially for someone who works remotely." — Centennial PPT Athlete

Want to hear what PPT is really like from an athlete's perspective? Movement Sunnyvale member Erin wrote about her experience firsthand, including the plateaus, the breakthroughs, and the climbing friends she made along the way.

The best part?

Your PPT dues include a full individual membership, meaning unlimited access to your home gym and all the member benefits that come with it are already baked in. Just one monthly cost that gets you a Movement membership and a dedicated coach in your corner every week. When you factor in the coaching, the community, and the accountability that comes with being part of a team, PPT is honestly one of the best ways to get serious about your climbing.
